Hello hello… welcome back. It hasn't been my intention to leave you all high and dry, but I’ve been incredibly busy to the point where I no longer have the free time to leisurely write. That being said, I’ll have a piece I've worked diligently on for the past four or so weeks.
Allow for this to serve as a little window into what I’ve been up to recently (aside from the mundanity of classes). Here we go.
I’ve been in the city all of summer thus far. I’ve been reading… I finished The Collector by John Fowles– and I even considered writing a little blog on this novel– but it was rather disappointing. How I would describe it: a worse and, frankly, less beautiful version of Lolita. Maybe I’m biased. Vladimir Nabokov is my favorite writer after all. But my current read, Without You, There Is No Us, is riveting.
My latest pastime consists of hogging the music rooms. “Tickling the ivories” per se. It’s been relaxing to learn and play basic chords (thanks to Tabs & Chords) and sing with my own partiality.
Oh, I’ve also been saying hi to the dogs of New York. To no one’s surprise.
I went to Gov Ball with Kate! We basked in the ambiance of dust and Benson Boone. I can confidently say that I was coated in a layer of dirt and heard “Moonbeam Ice Cream” live. The main showstoppers for us were: Role Model, Tyler, The Creator, and T-Pain. Kate even got me to try a vegan wrap… and what’s even more shocking, is that I enjoyed it!

A noteworthy event of the very next day is that Kate, Beatrix, and I walked from 215 street all the way down Manhattan to the West Village. And not without our trials and tribulations: down pouring rain, shivering cold-ness post-down pouring rain, finding bathroom stops, and declining morale. Even with these hurdles, we kept walking the full 13 miles until we made it to Caliente Cab. I had never been so grateful for a 24 oz. piña colada in my entire life.

Alida and I got more piercings!

I’ve been trying sooooo many delicious restaurants with family and friends. I’m so grateful for the lovely people I’ve met here. As cliche as it sounds, they feel like family. Manhattan is definitely beginning to feel– if not has already felt– like home.

I hope you enjoyed this sweet and short read! More work to come soon.
